and it was one of the best family experiences we ever had!

The five of us learned to scuba right here on Lake Clear!  Shallow clear water and very experienced teachers put us at ease.

It truly was an unforgettable expereince.  We had lots of fun together in spite of ourselves - and helped each other along the way.

Spurred on by our 12 year old - we learned the paper skills and details as well as the underwater skills and safety drills.

We even took the underwater photography class and even used the underwater scooter.

Spring is coming to the Lodge on Lake Clear.

With the melting of the snow the Robins are here. It is a sure sign of spring when they start collecting nesting materials. Your family can help by bringing used pieces of string or your left over Easter grass with you. Put some out by your chalets and watch a nest being built with your children’s help. Watch them pick up worms and carry them off. 

     Here at the Lodge on Lake Clear we encourage family fun.  Vacations should be to bring the family away from computers and TV’s and texting.  We support getting outside and seeing nature together.   We provide recycled materials to build a bird feeder.  Have the kids build it, while you sit in the Rathskeller and enjoy the Fireplace and our Handcrafted Beer and wine Cellar, watching them and lending a helping hand if needed. Then hang it outside the Lodging and enjoy the birds you attract. Identify them with the charts we provide, and challenge other families to see who attracts more varieties.

      Teenagers or young adults always seem to hate family vacations. Our Lodge on Lake Clear is TEEN FRIENDLY. They seem to think stuff at a Lodge like ours is boring and not for them. We cater to them too. The children of the owners are 13, 16, and 19 so we know how to give them a great time. We have an outdoor game room, ping pong, pool table, ladder ball and many more outside games. The Sun shines and it is a new experience. We have bikes and canoes and the beach is right on our private 25 acres of fresh air and family fun.

     The Lodge on Lake Clear is a different type of vacation experience, you go home feeling refreshed and connected you will have pictures to remember that you can’t take anywhere else, not only Spring but all year long.

Lake Clear Lodge is a place for families.  Open year-round we have unique opportunities for fun.
Paddle a canoe in summer and listen to the call of the loons; enjoy an authentic sleigh ride in winter. At night sit by the fire inside or out.

Cathy and Ernest - the owners, have three children of their own and understand the importance of reconnecting.  They have also homeschooled their children, right on the property. Finding "things to do" have never been a problem on our 25 acres....

Without the distractions of downtown stores and technology at every turn - you can truly connect here. There's plenty of things to do for all ages: right close by are two nature centers if you want nature a little more structured. Otherwise - just step out your door and do something old fashioned - like take a walk through the woods, paddle a canoe with the loons and watch a bird come to your homemade birdfeeder.

A little luxury and a bit of sunny magic makes the natural world come to the foreground.

We have 2 bedroom cabins and suites, and a larger house for family reunions. Of our 25 acres, half is wooded and half are large lawns - so we have plenty of room to explore the woods and play on the lawns. Bring your favorite lawn games or borrow ours. Make a fairy house in the designated area where the fairies play.

What is there for my child to do? asks parents....  You would be surprised at what they can learn from just being outside. You can be as structured or as unstructures as you like.

If you choose to wander off the property we are close by to two nature centers as well as just 10 minutes from Saranac Lake and 20 minutes from lake Placid.

Our restaurant is Family friendly, with nourishing foods prepared in traditional ways. The chicken schnitzel has always been a favorite. And kids can even take a cooking class.
